Interpretations

Upright
The Four of Swords offers the rest that follows the Three's crisis — the deliberate withdrawal that allows healing to begin. Under the third decan of Libra (Jupiter), the mind finds temporary peace through conscious disengagement. This is the card of retreat, meditation, and the wisdom of knowing when to stop fighting and simply recover. The battle will resume. First, restore yourself.
Reversed
In shadow, the Four of Swords becomes restlessness, the inability to quiet the mind, or premature return to action before recovery is complete. You may be avoiding necessary rest or being forced out of retreat before you're ready.
The Card
Titled 'Truce' in the Thoth tradition, this card corresponds to the third decan of Libra (20°–30°) under the rulership of Jupiter. The social grace of Libra's final decan offers enough peace for genuine recuperation. Fours stabilize their suit's energy. In Swords, stability is the temporary ceasefire that allows the mind to process what it's learned. This isn't avoidance — it's strategic withdrawal. The knight rests in the tomb not because he's dead but because he's preparing for what comes next.
