Interpretations

Upright
The Seven of Wands is the test that follows success — the moment when what you've achieved must be defended. Under the third decan of Leo (Mars), the courage of conviction meets external challenge. Others contest your position, question your authority, or seek to take what you've built. This is the card of standing your ground, not from stubbornness but from knowing your position is worth defending.
Reversed
In shadow, the Seven of Wands becomes either collapse under pressure or pointless defensiveness. You may be defending a position that no longer serves you, exhausting yourself fighting battles that don't matter, or giving up too easily when challenges arise.
The Card
Titled 'Valour' in the Thoth tradition, this card corresponds to the third decan of Leo (20°–30°) under the rulership of Mars. The dramatic intensity of this decan demands courage under fire — literally. Sevens in every suit test what the Sixes established. In Wands, the test is whether your success can withstand opposition. The Seven doesn't promise easy victory — it promises the strength to endure the contest. The high ground is yours, but holding it requires sustained courage.
