Interpretations

Upright
The Six of Swords is the quiet passage from turbulent waters to calmer shores. Under the second decan of Aquarius (Mercury), the mind finds its way forward through methodical navigation. This is the card of transition: leaving difficulty behind not through dramatic escape but through steady, purposeful movement toward something better. The crossing is somber but necessary.
Reversed
In shadow, the Six of Swords becomes the inability to move on, resistance to necessary transition, or the discovery that the new shore has its own challenges. You may be stuck in turbulent waters because you can't decide which direction to travel.
The Card
Titled 'Science' in the Thoth tradition, this card corresponds to the second decan of Aquarius (10°–20°) under the rulership of Mercury. The humanitarian vision of Aquarius meets Mercury's capacity for analytical navigation. Sixes restore balance after the Five's conflict. In Swords, restoration means the decision to leave the battlefield. Not every conflict resolves through victory — sometimes wisdom means ferrying yourself to quieter waters. The Six doesn't promise the destination is perfect. It promises the journey is worth making.
